Fire Strategy Plan

A fire strategy is a safety regulation requirement, to protect your staff, customers, assets and livelihood in the event of an emergency.

If you're considering renovating, changing the purpose of an existing structure, developing a thorough, well-researched, and documented fire safety strategy is crucial in understanding which walls are compartmentation walls and what level of fire resistance is important and will be part of the Fire Strategy document and how the building will be designed and will help assist the project management teams involved in overseeing the construction, renovation, or ongoing management of a building. By pinpointing the performance standards for specific technologies integrated into the building's design (such as extraction systems, compartmentation cavity barriers, etc.), these teams clearly understand the potential risks associated with each section of the building.

It is often seen that in some of the older buildings, the buildings were originally designed for one use, but over time, the original room has changed use, and fire safety might not have been considered. Compartmentation drawings help locate these changes when taking a compartmentation survey. It is believed this only applies to new buildings, which is incorrect; all building owners must now have information.

The responsible person should ensure that fire compartmentation in their buildings is robust, adequately managed, and maintained

Fire Strategy constitutes a crucial component of the fire risk management process linked to the Regulatory Reform Order. It is highly recommended for all 'complex' buildings that cannot be adequately addressed by a basic fire risk assessment and escape plan. We will be able to assist you in the creation of the plans and work with your fire engineer if needed
